ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

A man whose name is said to be Albert E. Freeman, shot himself with a revolver near tiie grave of the Right Hen. R. J. Saddon shortly after 2 o’clock this afternoon. The shot penetrated the man’s head and he was taken to the hospital in a critical condition. On his person letters were found addressed to Mrs Seddon, Mr Moore, and Mr R. Hogg, of the Socialist Party. In the man’s pockets was also found a. large quantity of Socialistic literature, posters, etc., together with a letter from a Socialistic organisation in Denver, Colorado, U.S.A. Constable Brown, who has been stationed in the Botanical Gardens for some weeks past, has noticed the man about there on several occasions during the past .three weeks. He was a resident of -Jew’s boardinghouse, Woodward Street, and is between 05 and 40 years of age. When found he was still breathing and was taken to the hospital, hut his condition is regarded as almost hopeless. Dunedin, June .12. A young man named Andrew Armstrong, employed as cowboy on a farm at West Taieri, was admitted to the hospital to-night, having attempted to commit suicide by •uttiug his throat. Armstrong is about 25 years old, and arrived in the Dominion about 18 mouths ago. It is stated that he !ms been drinking to excess daring the last few days. He lost a quantity of blood, but is progressing favourably. Wellington, June 18. About 12 o’clock last night a young man, named William Prictor, who came from Dunedin four weeks ago. attempted shooting himself in the bead on the lawn of a private house in Tasman Street. The wound is not considered dangerous. After firing the shot he walked into the house aud told the inmates that he had tried to shoot himself because he was despondent through inability to secure employment. He was removed to the hospital. Freeman, who shot himself in the cemetery yesterday afternoon, died in the hospital at 8 a.m.
