The non-passing of the Iron Bonus Bill has placed the Lithgow Ironworks in a critical position. The firm intends to ask its employees to accept a reduction of wages, ranging from 5 to per cent, till £’>e Bill is reintroduced in Sejitember. In the event of the reduction being refused the works will he kept going for a mouth in order to enable the men to seek work elsewhere.
