FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.
A- conference of representatives of’ local bodies and busines men to sider the Boston Harbour Board question, was held at Palmerston yesterday. The Mayor presided and those* “present included Messrs J. Stevens and W. T. Wood (M.P.’s), Hennessey (President Foxton Chamber) and Moore (Foxton), O. Gardner (Levin), E. O. Hurley (Vice-President Palmerston Chamber of Commerce)', M. Ooben (Wellington Harbour Board), J. G. Wilson (chairman Manawatu County), Fowler (“Kiwitea County), Atkinson (President Eeilding Chamber of Commerce and Feilding Borough Councillor), Toss (chairman Kairanga County Council), Brice (Marton Chamber of Commerce), Gower (Mayor of Foxton), Amesbury (Rongotc-a), Richards [and Gosling (•'Horowhenua County), Walker (Bulls), F. S. Goldingham, A. Seifert, E. D. Hobeu, J. T. Lang, H. F. Gibbous and J. Gilchrist (Palmerston North. ) Apologies were read from Messrs R. B. Ross '(M.P. for Pahiatua), A. E. Remington (M.P. for Raugitikei), both promising careful consideration of the Enabling Bill; W. H; Field (MiP. for Otaki), who expressed cordial support of movement; John Davis (of Koputaroa), expressing approval. After considerable discussion it was resolved to strongly endorse the proposed Foxton Harbour Board, and urge the Government to give the necessary support to the Bill so as to enable it to be passed; also that a deputation, consisting of one member from each local body and Chamber of Commerce represented, with the members of Parliament for the districts concerned, wait upon the Minister at an early date.”
