FIRES.

Per Press Association Dunedin, June 4. A shop in Georg© street occupied partly by George Caun, fruiterer, prrrly by Deuby Terry, stationer, ■was completely gutted early this morning. Gann left tho shop before midnight, after extinguishing a fire winch had been burning in an open grate. Ho lost forty pounds in notes which were stowed away under an old sofa. The building was owned by Mr Solomon, solicitor, and was insured in tho Victoria office for £4OO. Terry’s stock was insured in tho Guardian office, and Oaun’s in the Phoenix. Invercargill, Juno 4. The Riverton District High School was completely destroyed by fire at 1 o’clock this morning.
