LAST AOT OF A DRAMA OF LOVE AND CRIME.

Now York, March 31. Chester Gillette, the young nephew of a wealthy manufacturer, was electrocuted to-day at Auburn for the murder of Miss Grace Browu, a beautiful working girl in the employ of bis uncle. He betrayed the girl under promise of marriage and afterwards killed her. The crime was one of the most brutal and sensational in the annals of New York State. When the girl called on Gillette to fulfil his promise of marriage he was wooing a wealthy young lady of bis own station of life. But he renewed his promise and invited Miss Brown to spend a few davs in the Adirondack mountains.

There the two went rowing on a mountain lake. Later the boat was discovered capsized aud the braised body of the girl was found not far off- After the murder Gillette discarded the disguise he had. adopted and hurried to a fashionable resort, where for two days he was the life aud soul of a series of outings arranged by wealthy girls and iads of his acquaintance; then he was arrested. At the trial letters written bv the murdered girl appealing to Gillette to save her fro in disgrace reduced the judge aud jtv-y to tears. They were human documents of unique literary value. Before his execution to-day Gillette admitted that the story he told iu court that the g'rl jtimped from the boat and commuted snlc'de was false. He confessed that he murdered her with a tenuis racket.
