MANAWATU A. & P. ASSOCIATION.
The ordinary meeting of the General Committee of the Manaatu A. anud P. Association was held yesterday. The President, Mr F. Arbou, presided, and there was only a fair attendance.
The only correspondence was a letter from Mr E. JST. Barraud, resigning from the committee, owing to his projected trip Home.—Accepted’with regret, and Mr Barraud’s services to the Association to be noted. The vacancy will be filled at the next meeting of the committee. Five new members were elected. Accounts totalling £2691 2s were passed for payment The sub-committee appointed for the purpose resolved to recommend that section 7of 296, Oaklej street, containing 132 feet frontage by 29% feet deep be granted to the Government for a site for Dairy College purposes, it being understood that the Government will grant the freehold for laud of equivalent value from the reserve facing Cuba street.
The'report was considered at yesterday’s meeting, and adopted, A sub-committee, comprising the President and Messrs Jacob, Dunk, Russell, McKenzie, Cohen and Wood, was appointed to arrange all necessary details in connection with the land. It was further decided to write to the Minister for Agriculture agreeing to hand over the necessary land for the purposes of the school. Mr Wood, in moving the resolution, said he believed the plans of the school were nearly ready to call for tenders and a start would be made at once. There was no further business, and the meeting terminated.
