At the Braybroofc inquest, the record of Milbnrn, driver of the Bendigo train, was put in and showed that between January, 1888, and July, 1906, he was cautioned or punisned 14 times for carelessness while, driving, including fines. There were two instances of passing the danger signals, and in one case where he did so the engine ran off. In 1896, for running the Governor’s special at an excessive speed, he was ordered to be relieved from the duty of driving important specials.
