Thirty thousand London hop pickers and thirteen thousand growers, factors, and labourers, from Kent, Sussex, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Hampshire, marched in procession two miles long, bearing banners with strange devices, to Trafalgar Square. They adopted a resolution, urging the Government to impose a duty of 40s per cwt. on imported hops.
