Palmerston North, report:—At our Palmerston N. sale on Thursday we had a very large yarding of both sheep and cattle. The enquiry was not very keen for sheep, and several lines were passed at auction. Young cattle met with keen competition. W 7 e quote : Forward ewes 8s Bd, aged ewesi in lamb 4s 7d, fat ewes 13s 9d, cull lambs 3s 7d, "forward wethers 8s Bd, forward cows £3 12s to £3 10s, 3 year steers £4 6s 6d, to 3 year steers £3 13s 6d, 3 % year steers £3 Is to’£3 6s 6d, forward heifers £8 14s, store 18 months to 2 year heifers 31s, small 18 months steers 375, 2 t 0 222y 2 year heifers 345, cull steers 25s to 335. Messrs Abraham & Williams, Ltd., report:—At Palmerston on Thursday a full yarding of cattle met a ready sale, and prices showed an improvement on recenUquotatious. Bidding throughout was spirited, and every lot was disposed of. A good yarding of sheep met a. dragging sale, the only lines which elicited any competition being forward lambs and fat sheep. Quotations : —3 and 4 year store bullocks £4 16s, 2% and 3 year steers £8 13s, fat cows £4 10s to £5 4s, light fat cows £3 15s to £4, fat heifers £3 13s to £4 3s, empty forward cows £3 14s to £3 11s, empty forward heifers £2 16s, yearlings 16s, 15 mouths mixed cattle 22s 6d, 18 mouths heifers 25s to 355, fat ewes 12s to 13s 9d, fat wethers 15s sd, forward ewes ;9s to 11s, 2 tooth ewes in lamb 12s 9d to 13s Bd, 3 tooth wethers 10s to 10s 7d, lambs 6s 7d to 7s 7d, fat and .’forward lambs 9s Id, fat lambs 11s 7d, medium lambs 4s, ewes in lamb 5s lOd to 6s 4d.
