The Secretary of Raugitikei Rugby U a ion has received Hie followin'!? from Wanganui the question ot Tnrakiua being affiliated to Raugit'kei Union: Your letters of the 20th ulto. and Ist lust, came before my Unmanttee at their meeting last evening, and i was instructed to write you that my Committee were desirous of meeting your Union amicably in the matter. I may say that when my Committee allowed Tnrakiua to play here instead of under your Union, we understood that Tnrakiua found it impossible to play on Wednesdays, on which date we most of your matches were playea. At the same time, though we had not finally agreed to your Union the Turakina river as a.bonudary as your rules which were forwarded to us Jcr approval were not dealt with, as just at that time we were moving in the matter of„uew rules and my committee held the matter over for that reason, still' wo were quite agreeable to allow Tnrakiua to play with yon and strengthen your Union this season. On inquiring from the Turakina Club their reason for not playing in Martou this year’was that Wednesday matches iu’Marton would stop them"playing at all, so .practically on this reason we decided to allow them to play again "under our Union. I may say that',the Turakina team entails a ’great deal of travelling to our Juniors, and we would rather have them play in Rangitikei,'but at the same time it is cur bounden duty to encourage the game, and we would not be doing so if we had refused the Turakiua teams application to play here, considering they found it impossible to get a team to play f(?r you on Wednesdays. I have been instructed to write Turakina Club also laying the facts of the case before them, and your to this, and also Turakiua’s will be banded over to a Sub-Committee to decide on. lour boundary'will at the same time receive attention. Wanganui Rugby Union want Rangitikei to send a representative team to Wanganui on June 3rd. The team’s expenses will be paid bv_ the parent body and the'(idea of is “t 6 give the selectors the opportunity of seeing Rangitikei players before the British match .'and any men eligible a chance to play against them.
