ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

An inquest was opened yesterday on the body of the three mouths’ old .child of Edward'and Amelia Peach. The evidence showed that the infant was put to bed in a go-cart at 11 p.m. and was found dead at 8.40 next morning. The doctor’s evidence indicated that the child had been neglected. The inquest was adjourned till Friday. Antonio, an Italian fisherman, was drowned at Terawhiti yesterday. He was assisting to lift the nets into the boat, when -the latter struck a rock, and Antonio was thrown into the water and drowned. His companions swam /ashore. Auckland, May 8.
The body of an elderly man named William Langton has been found in Mannkau harbour with ’a wound over his eye. His coat and hat were found on the wharf.
