The lock-out in the shipbuilding trade was enforced to-day, negotiations for a settlement having failed. Received May 4, 9.48 a.m. London, May 3.
Six thousand employees in the shipbuilding trades have been locked out on the Clyde. It is estimated that stoppages in other trades have thrown 80,000 but of work.
