The band did not burgle for plunder, but tor glory. The members drew lota for their forcible entries, and he upon uhom frhe lot fell was bound tojbreak into a house with which the brothernood was familiar, and to bring from it some unconsidered trifle as a guarantee of good faith. The band was berayed bv the inopportune entry ot a maidservant into a room where one of its members was at work. Ihe -police records will know nothing of the enterprising band, but the individual members of it will sufter condign chastisement at the bauds of -parent or schoolmaster, and the band itself will go into involuntary liquidation.
