POHONUI.

From Our Own Correspondent.

The recant rains have brought the grass on well aud an abundance of winter feed is now assured. The roads are in good condition aud though settlers at present are making Mataroa their outlet they note with pleasure that owing to the energetic action of Councillors Duncan and Canton the metalling of the Huuter-ville-Pohouui road is making good progress. Several teams are now at work and the metal has been completed as far as Kaipauri. General regret will be felt at the news that Mr Tom Williamson is likely to leave the district shortly. Captain Teguer who lias been in charge of the camp school at Waiouru has been transferred to South Makirikiri near Martou as owing to the progress of the Main Trunk Line the camp has been moved on to Horopito.
