ADDINGTON MARKETS. Per Press Association. Christchurch, April 29. At~'Adding ton yards to-day there was another fairly large yarding ot stoat and a good attendance. Store sheep sold at about last week’s rates, and there was practically no change in fat lambs. Fat cattle opened dud, but improved up to last week’s •prices, "and pigs were in good demand. The yarding of store sheep was a large one, and was mostly made up of lambs and ewes. A number of lines from Nelson were on offer. There was a good demand for wethers for turnips, and a better selection of sheep was submitted. The balk of the ewes were in low' condition, having been brought from a distance, but they mostly changed bands at last week’s prices. Lambs were also in fair demand .at late rates, and the general tone of the market was rather better. The entry of fat lambs was somewhat larger than last week, and for all good freezing lambs there was an active demand among freezing buyers, and unfinished lots sold at last week a rates. Togs made 15s 6d to 19s 2d. ordinary freezing weights 18s to 15s 3d, and light and unfinished lots 10s to 13s 6d. - There was an average yarding of fat sheep, but it was somewhat larger than last week. There- was an entry of 30. i head of fat cattle, which included some prime lines of handy weights. The market opened slack, but bidding improved and prices reached last week’s level. The supply being beyond requirements, caused an easier tone in the market. The range of prices was:—Steers £6 5s to £l2 12s 6d, heifers £5 to £8 17s 6d, and cows £4 10s to £7 15s, equal to 21s to 25s 6d for prime steer beef, 18s (id to 20s 6d for medium, and 16s 6d to 18s for cow and inferior per 1001 b. There was a moderate yarding of pigs and a good demand for fats, but stores were not in keen demand. Choppers sold at £4 10s to £6, heavy baoouers 60s to 80s, lighter 60s to 58s, equal to per lb, porkers 33s to 48s, equal to 6d per lb, medium stores 15s to 18s, and weaners 6s 6d to. Igs,. the latter very dull of sale.
