WELLINGTON AUTUMN MEETING. FIRST DAY. Press Association. ■Wellington, April 29. The weather is lino but overcast, with a nipping southerly blowing. There is a fair attendance. Thirteen bookmakers are licensed inside and 21 outside at £2O 10s and £lO 10s respectively (including clerk). The course is a little holding. Results : Hurdles: Aorangi 1, Repulse 2, Te Kaiuui 3, Also started ; Playmate. Aorangi led all the way and won easily by six lengths. Time, 3min 24 2-ssec.
Waiwetu Handicap, 7 furlongs.— Toa Tuhi 1, Gazeley 2, Olanchattan 8. Scratched : Aboriginal and Carissima. Olanchattan and Toa Tula led into the straight, when Gazeley joined them and a good finish resulted in a length victory, Clauchattan an excellent third. Time, Imiu 32 4-sth secs.
Silverstreara Hack Handicap, 7 furlongs.—Wailetho 1. VvEiarekura 2, North Pole 3. Scratched : Mon Ami and Yosami. Wharekura led to the straight where Wailethe came and won fairly easy by half a length. Osiris fell at the four furlong post. Time Imiu 33scc. AVONDALE • MEETING. FIRST DAY. Auckland, April 29. The Avondale races started with fine’weather, and the track is in good order Results: Maiden Handicap, 6 furlongs.— Tauiiki 1, Waiotahi 2. Azoff 3. Scratched : Pukeuui. Won easily. Time, Imin 18 2-oth secs.
