Seventy-five political prisoners imprisoned in the fortress of Schlusselburg, near St. Petersburg, have smuggled out an appeal to the foreign press, with the object of obtaining an amelioration of their condition.
They declare that they are fed on bread and water and that their hands and feet are chained day and night, while they are knouted for sinali infractions of discipline.
