More bodies of so-called Afghans, •numbering several thousands, belonging to the Nigrahari and ShinW ari tribes, have crossed the Kabul river and joined the Mobmands. The Ameer’s authority which is shadowy in relation to them, has,not been asserted, and the Mullahs’ ingrowing rapidly. The mobilisation of troops has been ordered. BRITISH POLICY CRITICISED. London, April 24. Reuter reports that the general opinion in Northern India is that the policy of withdrawal pursued in the case of the Khels is largely responsible for the situation, as some of the frontier tribes imagine that Britain is afraid of offending the Ameer. Lord Minto will return to Simla forthwith. Received April 25, 8.18 a.m. Calcutta, April 24. The Mohmands are becoming more aggressive. Two brigades have been ordered to concentrate on the border Tinder General Willcocks, and a third has been ordered to Peshawar, as a reserve. AREA OP DISTURBANCE [SPREADING. Received April 25, 9. 46 a.m. Calcutta, April 24. General Willcocks with 3200 men audl 8 guns holds a front of 16 miles from Michni to Abazai with a strong central position at Shahakadan. The Mohmands clung to the|hills sniping. . A holy war is being preached in the whole area between the Kumar and Panjkora rivers to Janadol. Z* Shells dispersed a |large body advancing on Gazhisadar. Huf Mullah has reached Gundabonullla. The British repulsed an attack on Adizar bridge. Mohmands while looting a village within the Itish border lost eleven men. Received April 25, 10.47 a.m. „ Loudon, April 24. Reuter’s Simla'correspondeut wires that the enemy threatening to cut communications Colonel Willcocks attacked them with two columns, capturing the native Sangars. The British casualties were sixty.
