Sir Wilfrid Laurier refused the Asiatic Exclusion League’s demand that Canada should exclude Asiatics by legislation of the Australian pattern. PROPOSED CONFERENCE. Mr Munro Ferguson, M. P., and other prominent Liberals, urge Government to convene an Imperial Conference to discuss the problem of Oriental immigration.

Lord Ampthill contended that the question is over-ripe for settlement and argues that economic necessity not racial prejudice is at the root of the difficulty.
