ELLERS LIE TRAINING NOTES,
Per Press Association, Auckland, April IG. Tnere was a dense fog at Ellerslie this morning, and very little work could be seen. All work was done on the outside of the course proper. King Billy was better than Arc Light over a mile done in Imiu 32 2-sth. Gold Crest and Marguerite together were three lengths in front of Dawn at the end ;of a similar journey in imiu 51 4-sths sec. Mahnta going easier than Rauparaba did the first seven furlongs in 1 min 35 l-sth secs. Master Delaval made a track for Uiilauno over a mile in 1 min 49 4-sth secs. Woodhey beat First Gun the same distance in 1 min ossec. Aborigine alone did six furlongs in Imiu 22sec. Diamond Star was three lengths in front of Chanteuse over five furlongs in Imiu 7 2-sth sece.
The fog cleared after breakfast and Stylish Kirsty spurted four furlongs in 52 2-sth secs, Veronica and Delegate seven furlongs in Imiu 35 l-sfch secs, the last named having an advantage. Taimanupo four furlongs in 57 2-sth secs. Santa Rosa Waimanga the same distance in tne same time. Pierre, Irish and Moeraki jumped the big fences, the last named falling at the double, but afterwards getting over safely.
RICO A ETON TRAINING NOTES. Christchurch, April 16. The weather was dull but tracks were in capital order. Martyrium did G furlongs in Imiu ISsec, Gieuculloch from a walkinsg start a mile and a quarter in 2min 13see, and finished particularly well. Goldbeater and Stratagem seven furlongs in 1 mia 28sec, Stratagem having easily the best of the gallop. Eairoma easily defeated North Pole over seven furlongs in Imiu 33 4-oth secs, which could have been improved considerably. Husbandman beat Fieefcfoofc over five furlongs in Imin 3sec, the mare pulling up lame. Gwendoliua, Zimmerman, Signor, Lapland and Somaroff went ten furlongs, Gwendoliua finishing five lengths ahead of Zimmerman in 2min 12sec. It was a capital go, but Zimmerman worked lazily. Petrovna easily defeated Tessera over four furlongs in 50secs. A large number of other horses worked, but there were no sensational gallops.
