A LAND BOARD QUESTION.
Press Association. Gisborne,_April 13. At a meeting of the Band Board to-day Mr Eustace Lane submitted the following notice of motion : That under clauses 43, 49, 301, and 209 of the Laud Act, 1885, this Board is appointed todecide whether or not small grazing areas leased under that Act are suitable for “close settlement, and that we cannot accept instructions, forwarded by the Under-Secretary for Lands, as Cabinet instructions, seeing that such instructions tend to demoralise the tenants, belittle and “dummy” the Board. The Cabinet instructions referred to bear out an intimation given by the Minister for Lauds wiien on a visit “to this district recently, that on the expiration of the leases of small grazing runs shortly falling in they would if suitable, pae subdivided for closer settlement.
