THE DRURY HAMPDEN.

Per Press Association. Auckland, April 13. A public meeting was held at; Drxtry on, Saturday evening to further consider the case of Mr W. Dixon, the Drury contractor, recently committed to goal for refusing to comply with a magisterial decision of Mr H. W. Northcoft to pay back wages to a former employee. Mr J. Flanagan was in the chair. It was resolved that a public petition be circulated for signatures, and '.a deputation of residents wait upon the Minister for Justice to place the facts of the case before him. The meeting was largely attended, soine of those present having come in from a considerable distance. Six of the gentlemen present were chosen to form the deputation to wait on the Minister. A great amount ot iqtsrest was taken in the case, and Opinions were freely expressed.
