APITI SHOW.

From Our Own Correspondent. The Apiti' Horticultural and Industrial Society, held its fifth annual show on Friday in the new ■public hall. The show was opened fcy Mr Lethbridge, M.P. The Society is to be congratulated upon the success of their show, for the number of the entries and the quality of the exhibits was considerably in advance of those in former years. The exhibition of flowers, fruits and vegetables was quite remarkable considering the drought through which the district has lately [passed, and bore eloquent testimony to the fertility of the soil in the district. One of the most striking features of the show was the exhibits of Mr W. T. London of 30 beauiful varieties of cactus dahlias, which elicited great admiration from the visitors, and also four quite new varieties of potatoes —“Up to Date No. 2,” “Warrior,” “Gem of the South,” and ‘Solanum Commisoni Violet,” for the first-named of which Mr London preditcs a great 'future. There was a large attendance of visitors from all Jparts of the district, and the secretary, Dr. Gregory, is to’be congratulated on the great success attending bis untiring efforts. PRIZE LIST.
