'GRAIN REPORT. Mr 3?. Pownall, of the N.Z. and Canterbury Farmers’ Co-op. Associations, Wellington, reports as follows, all quotations being f.o.b. of shipment, sacks free. Oats: Farmers are holding without justification statistics showing that Dominion will have to unburden this sqason to extent of nearly one-third over last, which carried a surplus. Eastern Commonwealth States are negotiating for milling samples, and will require feed shortly, but any advance on ruling costs will check movement. B grade Danish, Gartons and Sparrowbills list at 3s 6d, Duns 2s Bd, seeds 2s lOd. Wheat: Home market is - disorganised with North America and Argentine forcing trade. Sister States relieving South Australia at slightly firmer rates, and Dominion has also hardened to 4s 9d, late rise in flour accelerating; fowl feed 4s Bd. Potatoes : With abundant crops growers are anxious to avoid last year’s experience and quit early. Whites are easier at £4 10s, blues £4 15s, Tasmanian equal cost, but not in favour. Maize: Supply meagre at 4s Bd, Australian value much higher. Barley: Demand slackening, first orders being off hand. Malting is worth 5s 3d, feed 3s 9d, Cape 3s 9d. Peas : Partridge weaker 4s, split £ls 10s. Bran : Active at £5 ss. Pollard, still short at £6 10s. Oatmeal: 25’s remain at £l3, rolled oats £lB, Oatina 10s 6d, hardening expected. Chaff: North are drawing heavily from South, and will hasten advance, bright cuts realising 955, medium 90s, straw chaff 655. Hay : Pressed rye clover 85s, straw 43s 6d. FEILDING MARKET. Messrs A. H. Atkinson & Co., Ltd., reportOn Friday our usual sale of pigs, poultry, produce and general sundries was well attended. A fair consignment of pigs of good quality came to hand. An exceptionally heavy entry of poultry arrived, including some old birds which accounts for the low prices. An average entry of produce sold at late rates. Quotations ;—Horses, aged pony £1 10s, 3 year old mare £ls ss. Pigs, weaners, good, 6s to 7s 9d, small 4s 3d to 5s 6d, rough slips 3s to9s6d, small stores 11s 9d to 18s 6d, good stores and small porkers 20s to 275. Poultry, hens, old lid to Is, good and young Is to 2s 6d, roosters Is to Is 7d, cockerels Is 3d, ducks Is 5s to Is Bd, geese 2s 3d to 2s 7d, all at each. Produce, table carrots Is 9d, potatoes, pig 3s 3d to 4s, eating 10s 6d to 13s, quinces Id to lb.
