GUN FIRED PREMATURELY.

iPress Association —Copyright. Received April 11, 10.10 a.m. Sydney, April 11.

The authorities are enquiring into the premature firing of a 9.2 gun ’at the Heads. While the huge gun was automatically rising from the pit it was suddenly fired. Fortunately the muzzle was clear of the pit walls or the shell would have blown everybody in the pit to fragments. As it was the gunner was severely cut by the flying sight.
