THE GIRL-BOY.
GIRL RAFFLES PROVES ONLY ' BOY IN DIGSUISE. Chicago, February 21. Celia Petersen, the “girl Raffles,” who confessed to over one hundred robberies, to-day broke down and admitted that ' the girl’s clothes worn since birth 18 years ago, simply disguised the fact that the prisoner was a boy. “I want to start all over again,” sobbed the prisoner. “I am tired of wearing girl’s clothes and sick of this stealing. “No one has suspected that I am a boy,”’ he continued. “I have worn girl’s clothes all times and they called me Celia, although some of the neighbours called me Tom. I never went with the girls much. I hated girl’s work, and it was only this stealing that made me keep on wearing girl’s clothes. “I learned to steal from wagons with the rest of- the gang. Then I fell to robbing bouses and stealing generally.. It was lots of excitement and it was easier than housework.” “The discovery’of “Miss” Petersen’s masquerade caused much interest among the police. He is tall for his age, coarse and plain.
