MANAWATU • AUTUMN MEETING.

FIRST DAY. Per Press Association Palmerston N., April 7. The following results were received after we went to press yesterday : Hokowhitu Hurdles, two miles: Gold Dust 1, Claremont 2, Killarney 3, Also started : Prospector, Pantaloon, Oryx. Killarney was in front over the first round, but Claremont was with him at the fence opposite the box, Claremont went to the front a little further on and when rounding the home bend Gold Dust came with a good run and after a desperate finish Gold Dust won by half a head. Time, Bmin 46seo. Longburn Handicap, 9 furlongs: Waipaku 1, Tangimoana 2, King Billy 3. Also ran: The Lark, Chatterer, Clanchattan, Flamen, Uenuku, Probability. King Billy was the first out, with Tangimoana and Chatterer close handy. Opposite the six furlong post Waipaku ran through, and getting well in front won easily by three lengths. Time, Imin 53sce. Champion Hack Plate, 7 furlongs: Woodhey 1, Tfuganini 2, Ikon 3. Also ran: Oarissima, Yosami, Waikaraka, Mon Ami, Wharekura, Lamsdorff. Woodhey took charge after going three furlongs and won easily by three lengths. Time, Imin 32seo.

Taikorea Welter, one mile : Bourrasque 1, Moscow 3, San Fernando 8. Also ran: Kurawaba, Toa Tuhi, Prism, and Hatley. Kurawaka rushed to the front and had a break of several lengths going down the back. At the home bend the field closed up, except Hatley, who was away in the rear. In the run home Bourrasque drew away and won comfortably by two lengths, with a short neck between second and third. Time, Imin 43sec.

MANAWATU R.O. MEETING,

SECOND DAY. Palmerston N., April 8. The weather is fine, but cold, for the second day of the above meeting. There is only a moderate attendance. Results: — Tiritea Hack Hurdles: Showman 1, Commander 2, Reservoir (8. All started. Speciosa and Bagatelle led for a mile when Showman went to the front and led to the finish, winning by a length. Time, 2min 50seo.

Hack Flying, six furlongs.— Lethean 1, Silver Lead 3, Mon Ami 3. Scratched: The Dane. Time, Imin 15 4-ssec.

Borough Handicap, six furlongs.— Ballarat 1, King Billy 3, Contender 3. All started. Ballarat led all the way and won a good race by a length. Tme, Imn 15 l-sseo.
