SHOOTING.

SAND ON BLOCK DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. A meeting of above club was held in Mr Delaney’s hall, Ohingaiti, on Saturday, the president (Mr W. Fergnsson) occupying the chair. Correspondence was received from Mr W. S. Marshall giving the club permission to form a range on his Otara property. The following resolutions were pBiSS6d * That a hearty vote of thanks be tendered to Mr Marshall for his kindness in allowing this club to hold their meetings on his property. That a committee be formed to select a site for proposed range, and that they be empowered to arrange for erection of butts, targets, target shed and all necessary details connected therewith. That the committee be composed of Messrs W. ' Fergusson, B. J. Meads, R. A: Gower, L. E. Weston, T. S. Thompson, T. MoAlley and P. Weston.

That a levy of 5s per member be struck to cover expenses connected with formation“'of butts, etc. Mr W. S. Marshall was elected patron, Mr B. J. Meads captain, and Mr T. S. Thompson, vice-captain. Mr Lewer kindly offered to cart all timber needed on the new range free of charge. A special vote of thanks was tendered to Mr Lewer for the above offer, and also to Mr Delaney for the use of the room in which the meeting was held.
