Argument has been concluded in the Appeal Court in the case Feilding Borough Council versus Feilding Gas Company. Judgment has been reserved. A heavy easterly gale is raging with a high sea on the Gisborne , coast. Heavy rain has fallen, 2.89 j inches having been recorded for the last 24 hours, and close on four inches for the last 48 hours. Marten Malcolm O’Halloran was committed for trial at Gisborne on a charge of forging a cheque for £l2 18s 7d, purporting to be signed by Mr Tucker, Alpha Sawmills, and utter ‘.jig the same to a bookmaker at Gisborne. Gisborne Technical School Committee is initiating cooking classes for youths as well as girls, considering an opportunity should be afforded young men whose occupation takes them to places where competent cooks ■‘"are not available to secure a knowledge of plain cooking.
