MANAWATU AUTUMN MEETING. FIRST DAT. Per Press Association Palmerston N., April 7. The Manawatu Autumn Meeting opened to-day in fine weather. Results : Linton Hack’Hurdles, Iji^miles.— Showman 1, Commander 2, Reservoir 8. Scratched: Claremont and Splendid Idea. After traversing the first mile Aorangi | established a strong lead, but he struck the last hurdle heavily and lost his rider,; Showman coming strong ran home an easy winner. Time, 3min 19 l-sth secs. Karere Hack Welter, 7 furlongs. —lkon 1, Lethean 3, The Dane 3. Scratched:. Waikaraka, Truganini, and Orucinella. Won comfortably. Time, Imin 30sec. Manawatu Stakes, six furlongs.— Aborigine 1, Elysium 3, Husbandman 8. Scratched : Golden Slipper. Yasa was first off the mark but was soon collared by Aborigine, who was out by himself at four furlongs, and galloping strongly won by six lengths. Time, Imin 14 3-ssec.

Telegraph Stakes, 6 furlongs.— Gold Thread 1, Tanna 3, Contender B. Also started: Ballarat, Guage, De Witte, Chicane. Gold Thread led all the. way and won easily by Time, Imin 14 l-ssec.
