ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

Press Association. Dunedin, April 7. At the inquest this morning on the body of Joseph Hinder, found near the wharf on Sunday, the doctor who conducted the post mortem said that deceased’s stomach showed signs of chronic alcoholism. He had also valvular disease of the heart, but he was of opinion that death was due to drowning. Deceased was last seen in the Provincial Hotel at 8.15 on Saturday night, when he anpeared quite sober. The police failed to trace his movements after that time. When the jury returned the foreman said that there was a majority in favor of bringing in a simple verdict of found drowned. It was not a unanimous verdict.
