A middle-aged man was brought in by the police this morning from 30 miles npxonutry, on a charge of maliciously* shooting a horse and wounding three others, and was remanded until Thursday next._ Ac-cused-is a farmer living by himself at Hazelburn. . „ Dunedin, April 5. George Conroy, who is alleged to have absconded from Burnham Industrial School about two months ago, was arrested here to-day on a of theft of wearing apparel, valued at £6 10s, at Balclutha. Christchurch, April 5. Frederick Hall, who shot_ and - wounded Alexander James Muir, at Lyttelton on March 7 th, was brought up on remand at the Lyttelton Police Court this morning, and charged with attempted murder. On the application of the police, who stated that Muir was still -unable to appear; he was further remanded for eight days.
