Scanlon, of Mount Eden Gaol, Auckland, formerly in charge of the prison camp at Waiotapu, has been appointed gaoler at Wanganui vice R. T. N. Beasley, who is retiring on superannuation owing to disablement. ! Dr. Mason referred to the measures on this subject which I had been brought down, and agreed with the deputation “that “there should be a national examining system for the examination of plumbers.
