ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

Per Press Association. Feilding, April 4. R. O. Carey, an old settler of Kiwitea, was kicked on the head by a horse in the stables of the Feilding Club yesterday. Twelve stitches had to be put in the wound. The patient is progressing satisfactorily. Palmerston N., April 5.

Owing to a stampede of several cabs and buggies at the railway station on the arrival of the Wellington train at 9.30 p.m. yesterday, Mrs Gordon Reid, of Wellington, was injured. Miss Martha Jones, of New Plymouth, bad ribs on both sides broken, one penetrating the lungs. Her condition is serious. Mrs Reid, however, will recover unmarked, though her teeth were driven throngh her lower lip by a blow of some sort and she is much bruised. The wound in the lip was successfully sewn up. Mr and Miss Gordon Reid were in one of the cabs, but as it was bolting near the railway, where an engine was approaching, they jumped out. Wellington, April 5.

Murdoch Gillespie, a telegraph operator employed iu the Wellington office, was killed on the Hutt Road this afternoon. He was cycling along the road with a companion, and, in attempting to cross in front of a motor-car, was knocked down, the car passing over his body. He expired almost immediately. The car was owned by Goring Johnston, and driven by a chaffeur named Barling. The occupants of the car were Johnston and P. Grace and two ladies. Gillespie was $9 years of age, unmarried,"and was the son of a farmer at Tapanui. Dunedin, April 5.

The body of a man named Joseph Irender, 64 years of age, was found in the harbour underneath the Cross Wharf this afternoon. Deceased was addicted to drink, and was released from gaol only a few days ago, after serving a sentence of seven days for drunkenness. Tauranga, April 6.

Julius Percy Murray , aged 37, died yesterday, through being struck on the forehead by the branch of a tree, when engaged in clearing a survey line at Kaimai, on Saturday. He leaves a widow* and seven young children. Deceased formerly resided in Auckland and Eltham. Auckland, April 6. Judge Munro, when leaving a tramcar at Newmarket, was knocked down by a cyclist and hurled with great force to the footpath, sustaining severe bruises and some internal injury. He is confined to bed.
