Per Press Association. Gisborne, March 31. A man" named Underline was killed at Arowhana Whatatutu, by the limb of a treej[falling on him.

Hastings, March 31

An old age pensioner, named Fritz Reiher, aged 75, fell off a moving train this morning between Hastings and Napier. He was brought back by the next train and has no apparent injury, except that he appears dazed. *

Christchurch, March 31

Sidney Cadle, a well-known stock auctioneer, in the employ of [Dalgety & Co., met with a shocking accident to-night. He was crossing the tram rails in Cathedral Square when he slipped and the Opawa steam tram (which was then coming in) struck him, the engine passing over him. When the train stopped he was found lying face downwards between the engine and the trailer, the latter uncoupled. It was found that Cadle had injuries, both his legs' being completely severed below the knee. He was quite unconscious at the time he was taken to the hospital, and died about 11 o’clock. Auckland, March 31. A sad drowning fatality is reported from Tailevu (says the Fiji Times of March 31st). 'Mr Lionel Coward, second son of Mr W. Leveson Coward, was fixing up some small repairs on a cutter and not answering to liis sister’s call, she went to the river and found he had disappeared. His hat was floating in the water and some natives foundyhis body in the middle of the. river. Deceased was 27 years of age aud was a favourite with both the white and native population. Being an epileptic subject, it is supposed Mr Coward dropped into the river while suffering from a seizure. Gisborne, ;April 1. The body of Thomas * Rodgers, who lost his life recently by drowning near Tiniroto, has been recovered by some Maoris near Tereinga falls,, and is being carried about twelve miles to Tiniroto, where an inquest will be held.
