Mr Shanaghan, representing the Labour Department .in Auckland, replying to the employers’ statements that there was a great lack of skilled labour, said there was no serious shortage ot .competent labour and there was [no excessive demand one way or the otiier. The labour that unrestricted immigration ..has already been the subject of resolutions to trades’ conference and assert that there is no justification for the allegation that there is a serious dearth of labour.
