At the latest trials held hy the Royal Agricultural Society of England, exhaustive tests were made in competition with Oil Engines, and this Engine carried off both First Prizes of £3O each for Fixed and Portable I Engines. The official report states that “ the judges had no difficulty in ' deciding the order of merit.” “Messrs Hornsby’s Engine ran without hitch of any kind from start to finish. Its action was faultless.” It has also taken premier awards in the world’s most important exhibitions. It has never been beaten in competition. It took the highest award at the World’s Fair Chicago; gold medals at the Paris Exhibition, 1900, Melbourne (Victoria). At a Special Meeting of the above Council held on 7th March, 1908, a resolution was passed making and levying a Special Rate of -|d in the £ within the Kakariki Special Rating District, to provide the interest, &c., on a loan of £SO, authorised to be raised by the Ranghikei County Council under “The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1901,” for metalling Kakariki Street, Mangaweka North. Such loan to be for a period of 41 years, and the interest to be paid at the rate of 4 per cent, per annum. It is [hereby further notified that a copy of the resolution making and levying such Special Rate is open to public inspection at the office of the Council, High Street, Marion, and that a Special Meeting ot the said Council will be held at Marion on SATURDAY, 4fch April, 1908, at 3 p.m., to confirm such resolution.
