FIRE.

Per Press Association. Oamaru, March 25. A fire broke out early this morning, completely destroying W. H. Isdale’s Federal Cycle Works in Thames Street. The flames had obtained a strong hold before the brigade arrived, and considerable difficulty was experienced in preventing the fire spreading to the adjoining premises of Gresham and Watson, auctioneers, and B. Emslie, tobacconist. The stocks of two latter were much damaged by water and removal. The insurances on the building owned by James Emslie was £BUO, Isdale’s portion £875, Gresham and Watson £225. B. Emslie £175, outhouse £25. Isdale’s stock and plant were insured for £750 in the Alliance, and Gresham and Watson’s stock £IOO in the State. There was no insurance on,B. Emslie’s stock. Mr Isdale estimates his loss at nearly £SOO above the insurance.
