THE SMALL SISTER AGAIN.

Chicago, March 1. It took Milton L. Thackaberty seventeen years to get over the effects of a dipper of cold water. If it had not been for the cold water Thackaberty would have married Miss Edna Grace Ovitt seventeen years ago. But because of the cold water he did not marry her until a few days ago. This is the story: Seventeen years ago Thackaberty and Miss Ovitt ' decided to get married. One day they were sitting on a bench in the garden at Miss Ovitt’s home, when the younger sister appeared. Thackaberty sent her to the well for a drink of water. She brought a dipper full. He drank it, and sent her for another. Between them they disposed of that, and sent her for' a third. When she came back with it they could not handle it. The-girl did not want to waste it, so she poured it down the neck of Thackaberty’s collar, whence it obeyed the laws of gravitation. What Thackaberty said to the little sister about the incident, and what Miss Ovitt said to Thackaberty in sticking up for flier sister, resulted in a change of plans. Thackberty married someone else, and Miss Ovitt did not marry anyone at all. For seventeen years Thackaberty did not see Miss Ovitt again. Meanwhile his wife died and left him with two sons. Last month he saw Miss Ovitt again. He forgot all about the dipper of water. So they were married at the home of the bride’s brother, Lee S. Ovitt, No. 3500 Ellis Avenue. The ceremony was performed by the Hey. Frank Gnnsaulus. Mr and Mrs Thackaherfcy are taking an extended tour through the South.
