WAITUNA WEST.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Friday last our school concert was held here, the weather being much against it as it '‘was very wet all day and not [much better in the evening. Tickets’were sold to the value of £5 and £1 was taken at the door. The following were the items contributedWaitnna Band selection ; recitation, Roy Eggers; summer song, School Children; recitation, Phyllis Humphrey; piano duet, Mr Fyfield and Miss U. Shannon; song, May Eggers; tambourine drill, School children; recitation, Kenneth Eggers; Toy Band, School Children; vocal duet, Mrs Pearce and Miss Shannon; phonograph selection, Mr T. Mayhew; recitation, Willie Powell; selection, Waituna Band; song, Mr H. Watkins; club drill, School Children; song, Mr H. Miuson; cornet solo, Mr W. J. Trevena; recitation, Lilian Climo; song, Mr F. Eggers; recitation, “A Little Newsboy,” Roy Eggers; recitation, John Palmer; song, Mr Roy Anderson; song, “Battle of Morgarten,” School Children. At the close Mr E. Shannon, in a few well-chosen remarks, thanked the performers, and especially Mr Anderson, school teacher, for the trouble he had taken with the children for the preparation was perfect. The singing of “God Save the King,” ended a very enjoyable evening. I am glad to see Miss Phyllis Humphx-ey is progressing very satisfactorily after her accident. Feed is coming on after the rains in abundance, and root crops are very much benefited by the rain, but it is time for the rain to ring off for a time as all the creeks are running again.
