Champion Fours, two miles: Blenheim No. 2 (C. Hegglun, Girling, E. T. Hegglun, Jackson), 1; Waitemata 3, Clifton 3. Also started : Canterbury, Akaroa, Picton, Union (Wanganui), ' and Blenheim No. 1. When the boats loomed up out of a blinding rain storm it was seen that Blenheim, Akaroa, Clifton, and Canterbury, were well forward, but the last-named steered a very wide course. Approaching the finishing post, Blenheim No. 3, putting in some sterling work, drew out ami placed the big stake to their credit by three lengths, Waitemata just beating Clifton for second money. Wanganui Union, Canterbury and Akaroa finished in the order named. Time, llmin 47sec. Champion Pairs, 1)4 miles : Picton (Garrick and Conch) I,Union (Wanganui) 2, Star (Wellington), 8. Also started: Akaroa and Union (Napier). TheUnion"(Napier) crew capsized after going a quarter of a mile, and were picked up by a launch. Akaroa came with a great finish, but went out of the course, aud finished on the wrong side pf the jetty, otherwise they would have run Picton very close. The race was won by 15 lengths, puo length separating second and third. Time, Drain 42sec. Junior Fours, 1)4 miles: Christchurch Union 1, Wanganui Union 2, Blenheim 3. Napier, Canterbury and Poverty Bay also rowed. Won by a length and a half. Time, Drain 31sec. Junior Sculls, one mile: Stokes (Aramoho) 1, Dustin (Gisborne) 2, Robertson (Star, Wellington) 3. Aramoho (Greenlees) and Napier (Snow) also started. Won by six lengths. Time, 7min 16sec. Champion Double Sculls, 1% miles: Akaroa (G. Whelch and J. Woodill) 1, Wellington 3, Wanganui 3. Won by six lengths. Time, 9mm 44sec. SWIMMING. 320 Yards Swimming Championship:—Champion 1, Freyburg 2, Dodge 3. Won by four yards. Time, 2min BOsec. Quarter-mile Championship: M. E. Champion 1, B. O. Freyburg 2, F. E. Dodge 3. Dally, Keruott, Emerson, Bridges, and McCarthy also started. Champion again led throughout, and won easily by twenty-five yards. Time, omin 58 2-osec.
The course was found to be four yards eight inches short in the 230 yards lap in both of these two events, but this was altered in the Mile Championship in which the full distance was swam. The Mile Championship resulted; M. E. Champion 1, B. O. Freyberg 3, H. H. Rich 3. L. C. Fearso also started. Won by nearly 100 yards. Time, 27min 14 l-osec. Freyberg’s time was 28tnin Sseo, aud Rich’s 28min 26sec, all three being under the standard. BOWLING.
The Carnival Bowling Tournament was continued to-day, though interrupted by occasional heavy ishowers. The final of the rinks matches was won by the St. John’s (Wanganui) team, which heat Gisborne by 23 to 21. In the Pairs Matches, Martin and Martin ”25 beat Crowley and Beatson £l9. Terry and Sim 24 beat Porteous and Gooder 18. Bull and Yates 26 beat AVilliatnson and Ricketts 12, Bulland and Yates 25 beat Terry aud Sim 24. This leaves Martin and Dean and Tabutena, Cowell and Williams and Yates aud Bull to play off for the first position.
