THE OPIUM QUESTION.
REDUCTION OF BRITISH IMPORTS.
Press Association. —Copyright. Pekin, March 23. The announcement is made that Pekin and Britain have agreed to an experimental decrease in the importation of opium for a period of three years, to see whether the cultivation of the poppy and the number of opium smokers will be lessened. In that case the importation will be decreased annually. A decree has been issued in Pekin with orders that further measures be taken to deal with the evil.
