Press Association, Palmerston N., March 18. At the Supreme Court this morning before Mr Justice Cooper William Waugh was fined £IOO and to pay costs of the pro. edition in default two years’ imprisonment, and was bound over to keep the peace for two years, self ia £.300 and two sureties of £IOO each, prisoner to be detained till the lines were paid and sureties found, Bis Honor stated that lie did imr scud Waugh to prison on account of his extreme old age and good character as he considered such pnui hmenfe would be disproportionate to the evidence against him. Charles Fit ton for assault on William Roach was fined £IOO and to pay costs of prosecution, in default two years’ imprisonment with hard labour and was [bound ovox to keep tho peace for three years, self in £SOO and two sureties of £350 each. The order for imprisonment was suspended for a week to allow Pitton time to pay the fine and to find securities.
Emanuel White was charged with having caused the death of Lucy Goldfinch by failing take proper precautions for her safety. White gave some little girls a ride on his horse and one named Goldfinch fell off and was killed. He was found not guilty by the jury and discharged accordingly.
