Auckland, March 16,

A seven-roomed house in Arney road, Remuera, owned by Mr Coles and occupied by Mr Malcolm Fleming was totally destroyed by fire on Saturday. It was insured for £3OO in the Suu Office. The furniture was not insured.

A fire occurred early on Sunday morning in the residence of Mr Leo. Myers, and occupied by Mr J. Mills, collector of customs. The brigade confined the fire to the front portion of the house in which were a quantity of goods heoluging to Mr and Mrs Myers, which had been there stored prior to their departure for Engalnd. The damage is estimated at £2OOO. The house was insured for £3OOO and the furniture was insured in the same office. Nelson, March 16.

A fire occurred on Saturday evening at W. O’Connor’s, Appleby. Forty-nine stacks of barley were burned and a number of new empty sacks. A stack that was uncovered ready for threshing _ was partly saved, but the barley will be only fit for fowl feed. Messrs O’Connor and Cook and Satherly, threshers and owners will be heavy losers. The total loss is etsimated at £4OO. The cause of the fire was ashes left when the threshers stopped in the forenoon.
