THE LABOURERS’ DISPUTE.
ACTION BY LOCAL BODIES. A fully representative meeting of the local bodies between Wanganui and Palmerston was held in Marton yesterday,'at. the office of the Rangitikei Council. The meeting was to consider the citation of local bodies by Wellington Labourers’ Union. It was a private one, but the following report has been handed to us for publication. The meeting decided, as there was no'dispute between the Local Bodies and their employers and, further, as no desire had been expressed for a conference, that the case should be taken direct to the Arbitration Court and that arrangements be made to state to the Conciliation Board at its first sitting the above decision. A committee was set up to represent the local bodies present, andjit was decided to ask Mr W. Pryor, Secretary to the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, Wellington, to appear before the Arbitration Court on bfhalf of these local bodies when the case was taken.
