A FRAUDULENT BANKER.

Walsh, President of the defunct Chicago National Bank, who was convicted in January last on a charge of misappropriation, admitted the lending of 16,000,0u0 dollars of the bank funds to assist struggling enterprises. He has-now been 'refused a new trial, and sentenced to ,-five years in a penitentiary. gHejjappealed against the conviction, and was released on a hail of £IO,OOO. The Judge remarked that a banker ought to he nothing but a hanker. Nobody could serve two masters. The accused had practically lent himself 'for the purposes of speculation, and had misappropriated three-fourths of the bank’s assets.
