MARTON HOCKEY CLUB.
A general meeting of the above Club was held last evening. There was a largo attendance. Mr D. Smith was voted to the chair. The report stated that the club had had a successful first season, although most of the members were inexperienced in the game. Matches had been played against Palmerston North, Taihape (2). Bulls (2), besides club games between sides picked up by the cap'.aia and vicecaptain. The club was successful in two out of the live matches. Messrs Smith (Wanganui) and Avery were thanked for trophies, and Messrs A. M. Brown and Alan Signal for goals and net. Mrs Humphrey was thanked for the use of the ground. The report stated that the chief requisites for the success of the club were a well-drained ground and the services of a good referee. The report and balance-sheet, which showed a credit of £6 12s 4d, were adopted. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Borough Council thanking them for permission to use the western portion of the park and asking whether the club might use the eastern portion for special matches, if arrangements could be made with the football club. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Swinburne for his services as secretary, also to the chairman and the Borough Council for use of rooms. The following officers 'were elected :—President, O. “P. Smith, Cutfield, Sorymgeonr, McKenzie, Bush, J. R. McGregor; hon. secretary, J. Mogridge; treasurer, W. E. Swinburne ; captain, W. E. Swinburne; vice-captain, R. G. Outfield. New members: B. G. Signall, Busb, Christiansen, J. McGregor, J. H. Coleman, H. Russell, B. Mitchell, Richleben, Allison, P. Gordon, T. Allan, H. Wysocki, T. McGregor, Morgan, Bartholomew, W. Humphrey, L. Humphrey, Bristow, Train, L. Mclndoe, W. Mclndoe, Arkwright.
