LONDON MARKETS. Press Association. —Copyright, London, March 12. Wheat: An Australian cargo sold, at 80s l%d. The American visible supply is 55,881,000 bushels. Tallow sales: 1057 casks offered, 957 sold. Mutton: Fine 335, medium 29s 6d. Beef: Fine 80s 3d, medium 38s.

ANTWERP WOOL SALES

London, March 13,

The Antwerp wool sales opened without animation. Merino declined 5 and crossbred 10 per cent. Ordinary classes were neglected. 3358 bales of La Plata were offered and 993 sold. Lead imports : 19,431 tons, including 5148 Australian; exports 5763 tons. Received March 14, 9.4 a.m. London, March 13.

The Antwerp wool sales closed ou Wednesday. The features*! were unchanged. About 4508 bales of La Plata were offered, aud 1914 sold.

SHEEPSKIN SALES

Received March 14, 9.4 a.m. London, March 18.

At the sheepskins sales 7300 were offered, including 6500 Australasian. Bidding was slow and there were large withdrawals, especially of short merinos. Compared “ with previous sales merinos declined %d, fine medium and crossbred Id, coarse crossbreds Id to Ij^d.

CHRISTCHURCH SHEEP FAIR

The annual ram and ewe fair under the auspices of the Canterbury A. and P. Association was held to-day on the Show grounds. There was a large attendance of buyers. In spite of the unfavourable season the majority of the. cheep penned were in good condition. The entries w T ere substantially smaller than last year, numbering 4039, compared with 5763 in 1907. The falling oft' was principally in Shiopshires, of which only 429 were penned, against 2499 last year, English Leioesters largely predominating. The demand for all classes was weak, and as a result there were numerous withdrawals, only wellknown flocks commanding much attention. The ruling prices were: English Leicester rams % to 3gs, a few odd rams 4gs, South downs to o^gs. STOCK REPORT.

The New'Zealaud Loan and Mercantile Agency Go. report on their Feilding sale: We had a heavy entry oft’sheep and cattle. A good demand existed lor all classes of sheep, and, although bidding was not quite so brisk as at last week, we were successful in quitting the whole of our yarding in the cattle pens. There was a good demand for fat and forward cows, but steers were dull of sale. We quote: Lambs (small) 3s Id to 3s 4d, medium 5s 9d to 6s 9d, forward lambs 8s 2d, cull ewes 2s to 3s 3d, aged ewes 4s to 7s, s.m. ewes 8s 2d to 9s sd, mixed ages ewes 11s 8d to 12s 7d, 3-tooth ewes 16s Id, aged Romney rams 20s to l%gs, 2tooth Romney rams 3%gs, 18-months to 3-year heifers 31s, forward cows 39s to £3 6s, fat cows £3 10s to £4 ss, 18-months steers 395, 2-year steers £3 17s, 3-year steers £3 13s. The New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report for week ending 13th inst., as follows ;—■ Kimbolton, Tuesday.—A. large yarding of sheep came forward but the sale was dragging. However, after the auction a fair proportion of the yarding was sold. Few cattle came forward. We quote :—Wether iambs 4s lid to 4s 6d, s.m. ewes 11s 6d. 2tooth ewes 13s 9d, f.m. ewes Bs, 6tooth and f.f.m. ewes 10s 6d.
