W.C.T.U.

Per Press Association. Auckland, March 12. The business met-ring of the W.O.T. TJ. opened this morning. The President (Mrs S. Cole) in a lengthy address, referred to the wonderful advance of prohibition throughout the world, and expressed gratification at the results of local option polls in Auckland. . Reference was made to the campaign against gambling in the Dominion, the Gaming Act of last session being regarded as great advance on anything ever attempted before, though the licensing of bookmakers was regained as a retrograde step. Tire desirability of more being done in the way of iemperance teaching in schools was urged, and the subject of infant life protection was dwelt on at some length.
