Before daybreak yesterday bombs exploded on the outer quay at Barcelona, the damage being slight. The matter was concealed until night.
King Alfonso visited the Austrian Squadron, and had luncheon aboard the flagship. He received ovations in’the workmen’s and other quarters of the city.
The King returned to Madrid in the evening.
The bomb, which was loaded with a powerful explosive, and filled with pieces of iron, was placed in a sewer under a lauding stage from whence King Alfonso intended to start to visit the Austrian Squadron. The explosion was evidently premature. Everyone who heard it attributed it to tiie firing of a gun on a warship. a crowd been on the stage many would have been killed. Two arrests have been made.
